Xbox Announces Developer_Direct
Over the past two years, Xbox has made a habit of “raising the bar,” and it’s continuing that trend in 2025. Following the Developer_Direct events in January 2023 and January 2024, a new installment has been confirmed for the coming weeks, promising several updates.
Developer_Direct will return on July 08, 2025, with a program packed with news. As usual, the broadcast will focus on a select few games, but this time, a surprise factor is in store.
Through its social media channels and Xbox Wire, Microsoft has announced that the Xbox Developer_Direct will provide new details about three highly anticipated games for 2025:Clair Obscur: Expedition 33,DOOM: The Dark Ages, andSouth of Midnight.Moreover, Xbox has teased a “surprise announcement” during the final segment of the live stream, which will come directly from the offices of the studio working on this mystery title.
The event will take place onThursday, January 23, at 7:00 PM CET (6:00 PM UK time)and can be streamed live on YouTube and Twitch.
Expectations are high, especially considering that the 2023 Developer_Direct brought the surprise launch ofHi-Fi Rush, and the 2024 edition revealed updates onIndiana Jones and the Great Circle,Hellblade II, andAvowed.
Xbox’s First Event of 2025 Includes a Surprise
Xbox Developer_Direct is making a return on January 23 with a schedule full of updates. The event will highlight two first-party Microsoft titles and a double-A game that aims to shine in a year packed with AAA blockbusters.
We’ll visit the offices ofCompulsion Gamesin Montreal, Canada, to learn of Midnight, a southern fantasy adventure with a unique “stop-motion” style. The game is set to launch this year on Game Pass and in stores.
Next,Sandfall Interactive, the developers ofClair Obscur: Expedition 33, will shed light on one of the most anticipated RPGs of 2025, expected to release in the spring. The event will be broadcast from Sandfall Interactive’s offices in Montpellier, France. This RPG will be available on day one via Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, as well as on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PS5.
The event will also take us to the headquarters ofId Softwarein Richardson, Texas, USA, to get updates on the eagerly awaited shooter,DOOM: The Dark Ages. Could a release date finally be confirmed?
Finally, the highlight of the event will be thesurprise announcement, unveiled during the final segment. Xbox has indicated that this revelation will be made directly from the offices of the mystery game’s developers, leaving fans eager to find out what’s in store.
