Whether you’re new to gacha games or a seasoned veteran, there’s one thing people love to do is watch the wheel go round and round. Seeing the screen light up with the chance of you winning big has been an enticing concept for many that expands well beyond video games, but sometimes you don’t immediately notice you’ve won. Like other gacha games,Persona 5: The Phantom Xcomes with its own animations when drawing characters and weapons, but there are distinct animations for each of them that give away that a 5-star has appeared in your pull.

How to Draw for Characters and Weapons

In order to draw a weapon or a character from Persona 5: The Phantom X, you will need to navigate your main character’s phone and click on the “Contracts” app. Here, you will be given a couple of options to choose from: A Newcomer Banner (if you’re starting for the first time), a character Dream Pick option, a Dream Pick weapon selection and finally a standard Gold ticket banner.

Each has their own unique rewards and traits, although most players will likely forgo the standard banner at the bottom in favor of the Dream Picks, especially considering they generally offer more enticing characters and weapons. All that needs to be done now is spend the hard earned Meta Jewels or the randomly obtained Tickets (Gold, Platinum and Platinum Milicoins).

How to Identify a 5-Star Draw

Not everyone likes a surprise, but for gacha players, they tend to revel in it. It’s very common for players to go through the initial animation of a ten pull/draw in hopes of seeing the shiny new animation indicating they pulled their desired character or weapon.

Unlike a lot of different gacha games, Persona 5: The Phantom X has two different types of animations based on what you’re pulling for:

Characters

Left: Standard

Right: 5-Star

For characters, you will be drawing from the standard banner or Dream banners. Here, the Velvet Room’s Merope will be accompanying you through a signed agreement, and depending on what the agreement reveals, it will give you new characters or Persona.

For this, there is a very distinct tell for when you know you will be getting a five-star character. When you sign the agreement (by taping or clicking the screen) Merope will look at the agreement and it will glow gold. It will always glow gold, but depending on her reaction, it will immediately tell you what you have obtained.

If Merope simply looks in your direction, you unfortunately did not pull a 5-star character. If she shakes her head, the page will then light up aprism color scheme and she will be shocked by what she reads. This is when you know a 5-star character has been pulled.

Taking more from Persona 5’s story, the weapons are handled by none other than airsoft shop and gun enthusiastMunehisa Iwai. It’s great to see the game differentiating itself from other gacha games by having multiple types of animations based on what the player is pulling on, and incorporating two of the iconic transaction characters from Persona 5 is a nice touch.

Regardless, upon pulling, Iwai will go over to a large stack of briefcases under a tarp/cloth and take the one on top and reveal it to you. What kind of weapons does this briefcase hold? Well, it’s all dependent on the glow.

While character pulls are a little more distinct in their animation for obtaining a 5-star character, the weapon appearance is a little more standard. There are no unique animations outside the briefcaseglowing the prism color schemeinstead of the standard gold. Once you see that purple and bright color scheme, you will immediately know you have something special on your hands.
