Tower of Fantasy’s next major update arrives on July 04, 2025. It will contain a new area, enemies, and more.
Tower of Fantasy Major Update Version 2.3 Releases July 27, 2025
The free-to-play gatcha MMO, Tower of Fantasy, will be getting its next major update in February of 2023. Titled “Wandering Amidst Miasma”, an official trailer was released on the Tower of Fantasy YouTube channel that gave us some disjointed story beats to get fans excited for the expansion.
Among new areas to the open world and anotherArtificial Island, players can expect tons of events, and more!
Traveling Through the Miasma
Tower of Fantasy 2.3 will introduce a brand new area, the Confounding Abyss map. If the trailer’s any indication of the area, we can expect this new map to be much like Genshin Impact’s Dendro area, Sumeru. Instead of the wide, arid deserts ofVera, we will get to explore some claustrophobic jungles and swamplands. Specifically, we will get our feet on the Miasmic Swamp, which has layers upon layers of wild vegetation.
Hidden off the beaten path will be tons more to explore. The landscape should be much more fun to roam around in, as it will be a tad more interactive than usual. There will be some new puzzle-solving to be done, perhaps much likeGenshin Impact’s hidden chests and such. Tower of Fantasy players will also be able to participate in various events that involve “vibrant mushrooms” and “egg devices”.
As to be expected, this new swamp will bring upon new terrors to face. Aside from normal enemies, the 2.3 update will add two new bosses. Welcoming in Jormungan and Eva, both new adversaries that will have encounters split into multiple phases.
Tower of Fantasy Activities Expanded
New activities are being added as well to give players a bit of breathing from open-world fighting, dungeoneering, and general simulacra collecting. New in 2.3 are three things that players can attend: the Carnival Party, the Pursuit of Fate, and the Origin of War.
Carnival Party will pit players against a carnival band. There, they will need to defend themselves against rocking riffs and voracious vocals. We can probably expect some dangerous musical notes to err ever closer to us and our groups.
Pursuit of Fate, on the other hand, will be a light version of Need for Speed in Tower of Fantasy. Players will be given control of their very own racecar. With this, they can speed through various areas, battling foes in different encounters.
Lastly is the Origin of War. This is a seasonal piece of content that will put different players into a cooperative tower climbing instance.
The Half-Year Anniversary
Also teased was that Tower of Fantasy will be celebrating its half-year anniversary quite soon. The game was released back on August 10 of last year, in which pre-registration numbers reached over 3 million. While developer Hotta is quite on the secretive side at the moment, we can probably expect at least a few surprises in the upcoming month.
Tower of Fantasy was already popular in China before its global release. Some may dismiss the title as a Sci-Fi spinoff ofGenshin Impact, but the game does try to set itself apart. Aside from the fact that it is an open and shared-world MMO, Tower of Fantasy also has an in-depthCharacter Customizer.
The story is also a bit grimmer, as Earth has fallen asunder due to the exhaustion of its natural resources. The discovery of Omnium on the nearby planet Aida allowed humanity to build the titular Tower of Fantasy and start rebuilding what’s left of their lives.
Final Tower of Fantasy
Tower of Fantasyis currently available to play for free on PC, iOS, and Android. It was recently just made available on Steam a few months after its initial release on a standalone client. There are no plans at the moment to bring Tower of Fantasy to any of the major consoles. Update 2.3 will be released to fans on the global server on July 19, 2025.
