While chatting withWyborczafor an interview translated byRedanian Intelligence, Tomek Baginski, an executive producer on Netflix’sThe Witcherdebunked a fan theory, that speculated thatLiam Hemsworthtaking over the role of Geralt would be explained via a multiverse concept.

Prior to the release of third season ofThe Witcher, it was announced thatHenry Cavill(who starred in the first three seasons of the show as Geralt of Rivia), would be leaving the series and Hemsworth would be taking over the role of the mutated monster hunter for season 4 and beyond.

The Witcher - Henry Cavill

While plenty of fans of the franchise were left disappointed by the news of Cavill’s departure, others began to speculate how the series would explain the character’s changed appearance and some have even suggested thatThe Witcherwill use the concept of a multiverse to explain Hemsworth’sversion of Geralt.

However, it would seem that this fan theory won’t become a reality, at least, not according to Baginski.

The executive producer stated, “Many book readers forget what Andrzej Sapkowski did in the fifth volume of the saga. For me, this is one of the most important things in the whole story. I’m not talking about specific events, but the narrative framework that was introduced in this book. Suddenly, at the beginning of the book, we learn that everything we’ve read so far might not have been true. And this cannot be compared with, for example, the currently popular concept of the multiverse, where out of nowhere there are many different realities.”

Fans Haven’t Been Shy About Sharing Their Thoughts on Liam Hemsworth Replacing Henry Cavill

While fans ofThe Witcherhaven’t been shy aboutvoicing their opinions regarding Hemsworth taking over for Cavill, those involved in the show’s production have also expressed their thoughts on the change and voiced their support for the actor.

One example of this is Anya Chalotra, who previously opened up about Hemworth talking over the role of Geralt.

While chatting about theHunger Gamesstar tackling the role of the mutated monster hunter, the actor who plays Yennefer of Vengerberg on the series toldDigital Spy, “I’m not worried. He’s going to be brilliant. I really think so. I mean, we’ve spent five years going on this journey together, and I’m so excited for Henry.”

The actor continued, “At some point, that had to come to an end, his portrayal of Geralt, and that’s been incredible. We’ve had such a wonderful time with him. But also bringing in new people to this journey we’re on is so exciting at this stage.”

Chalotra also reflected on the relationship between Geralt and Yennefer and her hopes for the future of the characters on the Netflix series.

She said, “The chemistry. Yeah, that, I know their relationship means a lot to people who love the books. It’s also just so complex and, in every stage, there’s something else to be found. I mean, they’re 100-odd years old, and they’re still going [laughs]. They still love each other. There’s something there.”
