The sequel to Nintendo’s launch title, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom might be the biggest first-party game on the Switch.

According to recent listings of the gameThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomis shaping up to be one of the largest first-party Nintendo Switch games so far. The listings on the UK Nintendo eShop now state that the game will be 18.6 GB in size. The US and Japan eShop have stated similar sizes with 18.2 GB.

If you compare the space needed to its predecessor Breath of the Wild, it’s roughly 2 GB more. But this isn’t the biggest game to come to the platform so far, that record is held by NBA 2K23 which stands at 55.8 GB. This does give a hint at how much grander the next adventure will be compared to BOTW. It was also revealed recently it will be the first game to be priced at $70 USD, but according to the publisher, this won’t be the standard across titles going forward.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Teased to Change Hyrule

Just recently Nintendo held its first showcase of the year in the Nintendo Direct which debuted a brand new trailer. This new footage showed Link traveling in a new vehicle which looks to be craftableitem. Other highlights from the video include shield surfing on rails and a new cannon weapon. This was the first look at the game since its official title was unveiled last year.

What is Tears of the Kingdom?

In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom you’ll join forces with a legendary warrior as you embark on an epic quest to restore the kingdom. Along the way, you will face powerful monsters and face challenging puzzles. You’ll also explore a vast world filled with secrets to uncover, challenge yourself in thrilling battles against powerful bosses, and gather incredible items that will help you on your journey. The game will feature the same unique cel-shaded art style as the first, an engaging story, and plenty to explore. Link will have access to new abilities, as he ventures through mysterious floating islands and even travels through the sky. It was first announced to be in development atE3 2019.

Tears of the Kingdom continues the epic journey of Link from the first title Breath of the Wild. In the prequel players used the Sheikah slate to uncover ruins and explore the land. The title had fun combat mechanics such as using bombs, craftable/degradableWeaponsand a range of differentArmor. The expansive areas also covered different climates from the frosty regions to the scalding desert. It will be interesting if these climate mechanics will return, and what new challenges will await in the next game. From the looks of recent footage Link will be flying around and heading to the skies this time around.
