Earlier today, CBS held its TCA summer press tour presentation, where the network debuted a new trailer for their highly-anticipated seriesSupergirl, ahead of the show’s debut on Monday, October 26 at 8:30 PM ET. The show’s producers also debunked rumors, once again, of a crossover betweenSupergirland The CW showsArrowandThe Flash. The producers then confirmed that three moreDC Comicscharacters will be featured on the series, General Sam Lane, the father of Lucy Lane’s (Jenna Dewan-Tatum) father, who executive producerAndrew Kreisbergsays will have an “agenda” in play. The show will also feature the hero Red Tornado and a Kryptonian villain named Non. The villainous Non previously appeared inRichard Donner’sSuperman II, but the producers said they have a, “slightly different take on the character.”

None of these new characters have been cast at this time, and it isn’t known when they may appear on the show. Red Tornado was originally crafted as a villain, but he eventually became a hero that ended up joining theJustice League. His powers include the ability to manipulate wind, along with superhuman strength and speed. Non will most likely have some sort of confrontation with Kara Zor-El, but there is very little we know about his involvement in the show at this time. General Sam Lane’s presence isn’t surprising,Jenna Dewan-Tatumwas cast last week, but unfortunately we don’t know anything about his “agenda,” or if his daughter will eventually transform intoSuperwoman. In the comics, General Lane was never very trusting of aliens, so it’s certainly possible that he will clash withSupergirl.

Executive producerGeoff Johnsalso discussed the presence ofSupergirl’s famous cousin Superman, who has been referenced plenty of times in the previously-released trailers. However, we won’t “exactly” see this superhero on the small screen whenSupergirldebuts in October. Here’s what he had to say.

“He will be a factor in her life but you won’t see him exactly on screen; he’ll be in the background but he does play a part in her evolution.”

Co-showrunner Ali Adler added, “As much as we respect the history of Superman, it’s very much [Kara/Supergirl’s] point of view.” ActressCalista Flockhart, who plays Kara Zor-El’s boss Cat Grant, joked that her character should become, “romantically involved with Superman”.Andrew Kreisbergalso revealed that they will approachSupergirl’s powers in a much different way than how Superman is typically handled.

“The tendency with Superman is to make him so powerful that there isn’t any danger. Week in and week out, you want to feel likeSupergirlmay not survive these things.”

Supergirlalso starsMehcad Brooksas Jimmy Olsen,Laura Benantias Alura Zor-El,David Harewoodas Hank Henshaw andJeremy Jordanas Winn Schott. After its debut on Monday, October 26 at 8:30 PM ET, the show moves to its regular time slot on Monday, November 2 at 8 PM, where it will square off against another superhero show, Fox’sGotham.
