TheSolo Levelinganime adaptation has garnered a lot of traction from the anime community in general, whether it be good or bad. While some fans aren’t too happy with the overall production, saying “It could be better,” this manhwa has gotten the best adaptation out of any other, so fans should at least be happy about what they’ve gotten. An 8.28/10 overall score on MAL isn’t bad at all.

Sure, it doesn’t have the most complex stories ever, but complexity doesn’t necessarily equal good story. While the start was kind of slow, the anime leveled up when mattered the most—action sequences and key character moments. There’s no way fans can watch Jinwoo powering up after getting whooped and say, “It’s mid.” However, the main criticism comes from the character sketches, especially Sung Jinwoo himself.

Solo LevelingSeason 2 fixed an important aspect of Sung Jinwoo in Season 1

The character development of Sung Jinwoo’s chin became such a meme within the community that fans now feel every time Jinwoo levels up, his chin doubles its size.

In the first 4 episodes of Season 1, Jinwoo is wide-eyed with a skinny body as it reflects his lack of physical strength, and his large, round eyes highlight his soft, kind nature. But by episode 5, Jinwoo has trained enough with the Quest Log to add muscles to his body, which is simply the reward of working out.

But there are differences from his Manhwa counterpart. For instance, Sung Jinwoo in the anime seems to have less hair and his facial expressions, including his eyes, make it seem like he’s a generic Isekai protagonist. But the biggest change is his chin. InSolo LevelingSeason 1, Sung Jinwoo’s chin post transformation isn’t accurately shaped like how it is in the manhwa. The jawline is too narrow and the chin is too pointy.

He kind of looks like Anos Voldigoad in the anime. Not that it’s bad. but it definitely feels a little bit different than the manwha.

However, the staff members at A-1 Pictures have been keenly listening to the feedback from fans and changed Sung Jinwoo’s look to be more accurate to the manhwa in Season 2.
