Are you wondering if youshould pay Herman and Ekratt in the Bakbattahl Jail? You have come to the right place, as this guide will explain what happens when you cave and give the gold to Herman or Ekratt inDragon’s Dogma 2.
Dragon’s Dogma 2: Should you give Herman and Ekratt gold in Dragon’s Dogma 2
You’ll meet the two characters in question, Herman and Ekratt, during Hugo’s “Off the Pilfered Path” quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Herman is a murderer who is in the jail cell to the left of Hugo, while Ekratt is one of the head guards in the Bakbattahl jail and can be found in his office directly ahead of Hugo.
Herman and Ekratt ask for gold for two different reasons. Herman wants 5000 gold in exchange for information and Ekratt wants gold in exchange to let Hugo out of the cell. However, it’s unclear what information he will give you.

What happens if you give Herman gold in Dragon’s Dogma 2?
If you give Herman the 5000 gold, he will inform you that he was hired by the Coral Snakes for his murderous job and that there is a Snake somewhere in the jail. When he says “Snake,” he means a Coral Snake member.
That’s what paying Herman 5000 gold will get you — a few sentences of almost no crucial information. I personally couldn’t find the person he was talking about, but you may have more luck than me. Now that you know exactly what he says (pinned in the image above) there’s almost no point to waste your money in your own game.

What happens if you give Ekratt gold in Dragon’s Dogma 2?
Ekratt is one of the most infuriating characters I have encountered on my journey through Dragon’s Dogma 2. I was having trouble getting Hugo out of his jail cell, and I didn’t want touse a goal keyto trigger the guards, so I thought the next best thing was to attempt to convince them to let him out. So I spoke to Ekratt.
This turned out to be completely pointless asEkratt is not a man of his word. Ekratt will ask you to pay gold, and when you hand it over, he will say, “Now, there’s no need to fret. These things take time; you understand.”
A few in-game days later, Ekratt will ask for more money. If you hand over more gold the second time, he will say the same thing. Instead, this time he will say it indefinitely. Well, at least for me, he has been saying the same dialogue for 20 in-game days.
In other words, you should not give Ekratt any money. He cannot be trusted and is just trying to make some money off someone desperate and trying to get their friendout of jail.
