An upcoming fantasy RPG will allow you to rule a kingdom as you see fit.Pathfinder: Kingmakerpromises to let you make subtle decisions. You won’t be railroaded into being either an evil overlord or a benevolent king.
Rule the kingdom your way in Pathfinder: Kingmaker
Pathfinder: Kingmakeris an upcoming crowdfunded CRPG set in the Pathfinder universe. In fact, according to the developer Owlcat Games, it’s “the first isometric party-based computer RPG set in the Pathfinder fantasy universe.” It’s inspired by party-based computer RPGs set in the Dungeons & Dragons universe. Similarly, the Pathfinder tabletop RPG was a heavily modified version of the D&D system.
In the trailer, we’re told there will be “fourteen classes, dozens of archetypes, more than a thousand spells and abilities”. We’re also told there will be “more than ten companions with rich, evolving stories.” That sounds like a lot of replayability. Check out the trailer below.

In addition to the rich story, a lot of the gameplay will revolve around your kingdom. How will you rule? Will you invade and expand your territory? What buildings will you develop? Are you going to be feared or loved by your people? Just because you don’t have to be an evil overlord, that doesn’t mean that you can’t be one. I mean, you could aim to be a nice ruler but where’s the fun in that?
