What Happened Previously On One Piece?
On the island of Hachinosu, news spread among the pirates that Koby, a Marine-ranked “Captain” with a bounty of five stars placed on him by Cross Guild, had escaped from prison and was now on the loose. Many of the pirates were thrilled by this development. However, their excitement was interrupted by a strange occurrence.
The skull-rock face on the island began to speak and warned the pirates that their slaves were attempting to escape. The pirates soon realized that they had to keep their slaves alive or risk the wrath of Blackbeard. The mysterious voice belonged to Avalo Pizarro, who had the ability to merge with the island itself, thanks to his consumption of the Shima Shima no Mi. This allowed him to have sensory awareness of everything that happened on the island.
Amidst the chaos on Hachinosu island, Koby’s quick thinking saved the day. Realizing that the pirates had uncovered his and the other slaves' hiding spot, he selflessly offered himself up as a decoy to protect the others. However, Shiryu suggested an alternative plan, using Pizarro’s power to capture everyone effortlessly.
Pizarro, however, rejected the idea. In came Vasco Shot, a man with a devilishly interesting power - the ability to control alcohol. But his solution to the problem involved burning the town down, which earned him a scolding from Pizarro. The crew had just finished repairing the damage from the Rocky Port Incident, and they could not afford to upset Blackbeard any further. Shot tried to redeem himself, pointing out that his size was an advantage, thanks to the Deka Deka no Mi - a Devil Fruit that allowed him to grow to colossal proportions.
As Koby tried to protect his fellow slaves from being captured, he became the target of several pirates. He quickly realized that escaping on foot was futile, but he decided to keep running anyway to keep the heat off the others. It was then revealed in a flashback that Blackbeard had kidnapped Koby to use him as a bargain with the World Government in a plan to become king of Hachinosu and demanded that the island should be recognized as a full-fledged nation. However, Koby said that his plan was worthless as he was a SWORD member.
Meanwhile, Marines led by Rear Admiral Kujaku, granddaughter of Great Staff Officer Tsuru, launched an attack on the island. The pirates were surprised to see the buildings start moving and realized that Kujaku had eaten the Muchi Muchi no Mi, which allowed her to control anything she whipped, including inanimate objects. As Koby was cornered, he heard an explosion and learned that Dr. Vegapunk’s GP Flowers had been detonated by Hibari, a skilled sniper.
Prince Grus, who had eaten the Gunyo Gunyo no Mi and could manipulate clay, contacted Hibari to inform her that both he and Kujaku had the situation under control. Several pirates had already been trapped by the buildings and were unable to escape. Just when all seemed lost, Monkey D. Garp appeared, launching himself and his Marine ship into the air. He jumped off the ship and unleashed his powerful punch and shaking the island.
