Despite revealing the Nintendo Switch 2 game lineup as soon as next week, the Japanese console manufacturer has announced a 30-minuteNintendo Directwill take place on March 27 (Thursday). It will not be focusing on any news regarding the Nintendo Switch 2 and will likely reveal new titles for the aging hardware, the first Nintendo Switch.

Let the Speculation Begin

Nintendo says the Nintendo Direct will feature “around 30 minutes of upcoming games” for the original Nintendo Switch. “Information about #NintendoSwitch2 will be shared on April 2nd at 6 a.m. PT in the Nintendo Direct: Nintendo Switch 2 – 26-07-2025 presentation,” Nintendo of America reiterated onXas a reply to the announcement of this Nintendo Direct.

No clues have been given as to what will be shown during the Nintendo Switch’s last Direct as the company’s main console. There has been some speculation, however, over a few remasters that Nintendo have yet to launch. As we near the launch of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond in 2025, its prior two entries Echoes and Corruption haven’t made the leap to Switch. Industry insider Jeff Grubb has claimed on theLast of the Nintendogs podcast(viaNintendo Life) that the remasters have been completed and Nintendo is waiting to release them.

Review: Metroid Prime Remastered

One of the Gamecube’s best, Metroid Prime Remastered is a brilliant enhancement to what was already an all-time classic.

“They just want to pick and choose their times and make it make sense with the rest of their releases, and if it’s something that fits in with another release or franchise, they want to time it for that.” Grubb also said that Nintendo doesn’t want to “overdo it” with how frequently they launch games in each series.

Will the Zelda HD Remasters Get Ported?

The Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker HDandThe Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HDhave been trapped on the Wii U and haven’t seen a port to the Nintendo Switch as of the time of writing. Fans have been clamoring to see those beloved remasters on a more popular system. They are both classics that deserve to be played by more people. Twilight Princess, in particular, gives a uniquely darker take on the classic franchise.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, currently, is the only slated game for the Nintendo Switch in the publisher’s schedule. It could get a release date during this Nintendo Direct.

Instead, Nintendo has given fans a remaster of a mixed entry in the seriesSkyward Sword, which was criticized for its level format. The remaster, however, lets you play the game without motion controls which is a blessing for many who want to give the Wii game a second try. “The new control scheme may take some getting used to, but it creates a fluid adventure that’s much easier and comfortable to play at a moment’s notice,” saidour review.

The last released game from Nintendo that was deemed as a swan song for the Nintendo Switch by some critics isXenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition, which improved the visuals and added new content. It launched on March 20.
