Crafting a specialized build inMonster Hunter Wildsis half the fun of the game for some folks. Creating new playstyles that aren’t the norm or an intended way to use a weapon can be quite a fun experience for many players.
When it comes to builds for the bow, you can create several different types of builds, some leaning into status effects and ammo types to take down monsters. But the bow does have a solid way of dealing damage, the Dragon Piecer attack, and you can also make a whole new build around it.

Monster Hunter Wilds: Bow Guide
The Bow has received some new and interesting new tricks in this newest iteration.
Craft the Best Bows For the Build
Two bows will help you maximize the damage output for this build.
There are a few options when crafting theAngelbeinArtian Weapon. you may pick many other elements, but when going with the Ice element you’ll have access to Pierce Coatings. These coatings will help with the Dragon Piercer and will apply the coating to deal with even more piercing ticks to the attack. Another weapon to use will be theGriefbringer Urstoxbow. This bow has some of the best damage to all the available bows as well as the best monster-crafted weapon gem slots. The only downside to using Griefbringer Urstox is that it does not have access to pierce coatings, so it might be a bit more situational to use.
Weapon Name
Decorations
Skill Description
Critical Jewel [3]
Increases the damage of critical hits.
Pierce Jewel [3]
Increases the attack of the bowgun’s pierce ammo, and the bow’s Dragon Piercer and Thousand Dragons.
Trueshot Jewel [2]
Increases the power of the bowgun’s special ammo, and the bow’s Dragon Piercer and Thousand Dragons, and Tracer.
Griefbringer Urstox
Attack Jewel [3]
Increases attack power.
Trueshot Jewel [1]
Both weapons can use very similar jewel sets as well and, depending on your preference, you can swap them around if you wish. The Pierce Jewel is best used on Angelbein due to it having access to those pierce coatings and will allow you to use the bow for more than the Dragon Piercer if you are under pressure. However, the same jewel is still useful on Griefbringer Urstox to further increase the damage to its own Dragon Piercer attack. It is all down to player preference on how you want this build to be used while you are on a hunt.
Crafting the Armor
Now that you have your weapons set, you’ll need some armor to pair with them.
You’ll need to craft some armor that will help with your stamina drain that the bow will throw your way. Due to the weapon not having a sharpness meter, you’ll be able to throw out constant attacks as long as you have the stamina for it. With the right set of armor crafted, you’ll be able to negate this depletion by 50% and you’ll be able to be as aggressive as possible with this build.
Gore Helm B
Evade Window
Extends the invulnerability period when evading.
Coalescence
Temporarily increases the elemental attack power and status effects after recovering from blights or abnormal status.
Akvulcan Mail B
Weakness Exploit
Increases the affinity of attacks that exploit a monster’s weak points and wounds.
Guardian Arkveld Vambraces B
Gore Coil A
Constitution
Reduces stamina depletion when evading, blocking, or doing certain other actions.
Once infected, makes it easier to overcome the Frenzy and increases affinity if cured.

Dahaad Shardgreaves B
Increases attack power and affinity when large monsters become enraged.
Exploiter Charm II
Corrupted Mantle
Decreases health, but increases affinity and weapon performance while equipped. Repeated attacks on monsters will further increase your attack power and affinity.
A mix of gear that will max out several sets of skills rather than be a jack-of-all-trades set of skills will be very important for this build. This will make the gem slots a lot easier to figure out and round out the build completely. Weakness Exploit is a big part of making a Dragon Piercer build more viable. This particular skill will allow you to gain even more affinity when you strike a monster’s weak point or wound, making it a must-have skill. When paired with the Corrupter Mantle, you’ll be able to gain fast access to your arrow coatings with normal attacks to buff your Dragon Piercer shots once again.

Equipping Armor Decorations
With the armor crafted you’ll just need some proper armor decorations slotted into them.
Armor Decoration
Challenger Jewel [3]
Sane Jewel [1]
Evasion Jewel [2]
x2 Physique Jewel [1]
Physique Jewel [1]
Slotting in armor decorations is one of the most important parts of building up a set of armor. Prioritizing the Challenger Jewel for all the rank-three jewel slots in your armor is going to increase your attack and affinity while a monster is enraged, allowing your Dragon Piercer to deal consistent damage while the monster is on its rampage. The Physique Jewels will help you with maxing out your Constitution skill, this is key to keeping your stamina drain at the absolute minimum during hunts.
The Evasion Jewels may seem odd at first as well, but they are a key defensive jewel that is slightly boosted by the armor pieces. This may not be at the maximum level even with the jewels, but at level 3 you’ll have an increased invulnerability window. The bow has a built-in dodge while attacking and this will also increase this window while you are dealing with monsters. Even if it will only be at level 3 it will allow you to be aggressive towards a monster while still giving you the ability to keep yourself safe while in danger.

With your weapon and armor decorations attached, you are ready to go out and hunt some fearsome monsters. You will want to use the Dragon Piercer attack as often as possible, applying your arrow coatings to them regularly. Take full advantage of the Pierce Jewel on your bow choices, maybe even both, to ensure that your attack will deal even more damage. The bow is a fantastic weapon that will allow you to be at a somewhat safe distance from most monsters while on hunts. The drawback is the bow does drain your stamina more than most available weapons, so make sure you bring some Energy Drinks and Dash Juice to enable you to always be topped up and ready to take down monsters.
