While theRockyfranchise has seemed to be ready to throw in the towel on numerous occasions, since spawning the spin-off franchiseCreedit has shown no signs of stopping. AsCreed IIIhit cinemas last week end and immediately became one of the best performers in the entire Rocky saga, it now looks like new franchise helmerMichael B. Jordancould be about to expand the Creed-verse even further with a huge deal at Amazon.

While theRockyandCreedfranchises have always played it straight down the cinematic movie route, new reports have suggested that this could be about to change. As reported byDeadline, Jordan is said to have had various meetings with Amazon about newCreedrelated projects. This is said to include a TV series and an anime series linked to the franchise. While all of the conversations have been secret and there is very little in the way of concrete information right now, a spin-off fromCreedbased on Adonis Creed’s daughter is also being considered.

Creed III

All of this would be alongside theMGMDragospinoff, which would featureRocky IV’s Dolph Lundgren reprising his role as Ivan Drago and Florian Munteanu as his son Viktor, who was last seen inCreed II. There has been little word on how this project has been going since it was first moved to having a script commissioned, and received a certain amount of backlash from Rocky himself, Sylvester Stallone. Stallone still has personal grievances with the rights to the first movie, and seeing projects moving on without him being consulted has only aggravated this further. How Stallone will react to a possibleCreeduniverse is unclear, with him having already stepped back fromCreed III.

Creed III Could Be the Biggest Movie of The Entire Rocky Franchise.

Creed IIIhas been packing in audiences since opening last weekend andquickly passed $100 millionat the box office. While the movie still has some way to passRocky IV, which is still the biggest earner of the Rocky franchise with $300 million. However, after landing good reviews and word of mouth,Creed III can quite quickly become a much bigger hit than anyone thought possible when the movie was first announced without Sylvester Stallone being part of it. However, Jordan previously addressed his mentor’s absence, saying:

“First of all, Sly and Rocky’s DNA is through this entire franchise. You can’t have these movies [without that]. That underdog spirit, I think, connects the underdog in all of us. I think what we love about these movies so much is that we see somebody that’s going through hardships, that’s able to rise from the ashes and reach the mountaintop, and we connect with that. For us, we connect with characters that can do the same, and that’s what we want to do with Adonis Creed.”

Creed IIIhas certainly managed to avoid all of the possible pitfalls that could have come its way, and it now looks like the franchise is going to get even bigger in future.
