The directors behind the recent musical movie adaptation of the teen comedyMean Girls, Samantha Jayne and Arturo Perez Jr., have revealed which musical they would love to bring to the big screen next:Hamilton. Speaking withComicbook.com, the filmmaking pair were quick to namedrop Lin-Manuel Miranda’s historical musical as a dream adaptation of theirs, with Perez Jr. saying she has been “screaming it from the treetops.”
“Hamilton. Alexander Hamilton. We’re screaming it from the treetops like he would. But unless maybe Lin wants to direct it, but … That would be amazing. That would be an incredible thing, too. But if he doesn’t want to direct it… We’re not throwing away our shot.”

With music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, as well as choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler,Hamiltonhas become a musical sensation since debuting Off-Broadway back in 2015. Based on the 2004 biography Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow,Hamiltonexplores the life of American Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, detailing his involvement in the American Revolution against the backdrop of the early United States. And all in singing-and-rap style that Lin-Manuel Miranda has now become so well-known for.
