After an explosive launch, Marvel Rivals continued into its first season with staggering success. Now, just ahead of the halfway point of the season, NetEase Games has begun teasing a brand new content update arriving on February 21.

We’ve known for some time now that we would be seeing a huge content update at the halfway point of Season 1: Eternal Night Falls, and now Hardcore Gamer has gotten a chance to see (and play) everything that’s coming in the new mid-season update on February 21.

New Character: Human Torch

The Human Torch is a new Duelist character, who focuses on dealing damage to enemies with small pools of fire he throws on the ground as he flies around the map. Human Torch is a 3-star difficult character, who was a ton of fun to play and is a powerful addition to the roster of flying DPS characters.

Description

Fire Cluster

Launch forward a cluster of splitting fireballs.

Plasma Body

Hold button to enter a state of accelerated ascent.

Blazing Blast

Launch a fireball to deal damage or create a Flame Field at the targeted area, dealing damage to enemies within.

Pyro Prison

When 2 or more Flame Fields exist, connect them to form a fire wall that deals one-off high damage to enemies that pass through the wall, or continuous burning damage if the wall exists within a closed area.

Flaming Meteor

Dive towards the ground, dealing damage to enemies and detonating any Flame Fields hit.

Explode with cosmic fire to deal damage to enemies within range and enter Supernova state. While in Supernova state, Blazing Blast will transform into Flame Tornado, and Plasma Body can be activated without any cost.

Omega Fire (with Storm)

When the Human Torch activates Supernova, Storm can summon an Omega Fire by selecting a Flame Tornado with Omega Hurricane. Likewise, when Storm unleashes Omega Hurricane, The Human Torch can transform it into a Burning Hurricane with Supernova. Any Flame Tornado caught in a Burning Hurricane will grow in size and damage.

United Siblings (with Invisible Woman/Fantastic Four)

The Invisible Woman taps into her powers, channeling Psionic Might to fortify the entire Fantastic Four team. This formidable force bolsters the rest of the team, granting damage resistance. Once activated, they can continually generate Bonus Health, making up for lost Health with each passing moment.

New Cosmetic: Negative Zone Gladiator

The Negative Zone Gladiator bundle transforms Johnny Storm into an otherworldly flaming demon, and comes with a skin, emote, MVP animation, nameplate and spray.

New Character: The Thing

The Thing is a new Vanguard class character focusing on melee attacks and tossing enemies. This tank hero is one of the most straightforward and simple characters in the game thus far, and is understandably rated at a one-star difficulty level.

Rapidly punch forward

Marvel Rivals

Yancy Street Charge

Continuously charge forward, launching up enemies and leaving behind a zone at the final position that prevents the use of mobility abilities.

Embattled Leap

Jump toward your ally and apply damage reduction to both of you.

Stone Haymaker

Delliver a devastating Heavy Blow (charged melee attack).

Clobberin' Time

Use immense power to launch all enemies in front of you into the air.

Unyielding Will

Immune to launch-up, knock-back, and other displacement effects.

Cosmic Fastball (with Wolverine/Hulk)

Once both parties confirm, Hulk and The Thing can lift Wolverine and press the key to hurl him forward.

Cooperative Comrades (with Invisible Woman/Fantastic Four)

New Cosmetic: Trench Coat

A classic outfit from The Thing’s (admittedly limited) wardrobe, the Trench Coat bundle sees The Thing dawn his detective/journalist-inspired city clothes. The bundle comes with a skin, emote, MVP animation, nameplate and spray.

New Map: Central Park

Continuing the story that began in Midtown, Empire of Eternal Night: Central Park is a new convergence map that tasks players with freeing and escorting a creature named Ratatoskr or defending him from being captured. The map quickly moves from Manhattan’s Central Park into a gigantic gothic castle (presumably occupied by vampires). Players will be able to interact with permanent portals on the map to teleport to different points when respawning, as well as watch the castle grow and change as they progress through the level. The matches in Central Park consist of a three-part capture phase, followed by a two-part escort phase.

New Event: Midnight Features II

Lastly, the return of the Midnight Features event (appropiately named Midnight Features II) arrives in the second half of this season. Players complete a variety of missions to earn cosmetics and currency rewards, with an exclusive skin for Groot called the “Carved Traveler” awarded to players that complete all fifteen missions.
