Action movie icon andTerminatorstarLinda Hamiltonreturns to the genre she’s renowned for with the upcoming sci-fi thriller,Osiris, which just got a hugely exciting release update. Instead of battling killer robots,Osiriswill find Hamilton facing off with aliens after her and her crew of commandos are abducted.

Osiris, which is directed by William Kaufman (Sinners and Saints, The Channel) from a script he co-wrote with Paul Reichelt stars Linda Hamilton alongside Max Martini (Pacific Rim, Bosch: Legacy), Brianna Hildebrand (Deadpool), LaMonica Garrett (1883), and Linds Edwards (Homefront). Thesci-fi action outinghas now been picked up by Vertical for North American distribution (via Variety), meaning not only that US audiences will get to see Hamilton’s return to action, which is slated for release this summer, but also that we should be getting more updates, such as a trailer, pretty soon.

Action movies and sci-fi films are two of the most expensive genres in Hollywood. Put them together, and you get the ultimate blockbuster.

According to a press release,Osirisfollows “a team of Special Forces commandos in the middle of an operation who are abducted by a mysterious spacecraft. When they wake up aboard the ship, they quickly discover they are being hunted by a merciless alien race.” Which sounds like the perfect opportunity for Hamilton to once again wage war.

‘Osiris’ Is an “Old-School” Action Sci-Fi Thriller

In a statement, writer and director William Kaufman heaped praise on the cast, as well as teasingthe creature effectsto come, saying, “Working with [producer] Max Martini for a second time, Linda Hamilton, Brianna Hildebrand and the legendary creature effects maestro Todd Masters, along with the rest of our exceptional cast and crew, to bring this old-school action sci-fi thriller to life was just incredible. Best recognized for her iconic action hero role as Sarah Connor in theTerminatorfranchise, Hamilton last played the character in the surprisingly well-received sequelTerminator: Dark Fateback in 2019. Joining forces once again with Arnold Schwarzenegger,Dark Fatesaw Sarah once again fighting for the future of humanity after destined savior and her son, John Connor, is killed in childhood. DespitemoreTerminatorprojectsbeing on the horizon,Hamilton has no intention of returning for more, stating last year that she’s done. “I’m done. I’m done. I have nothing more to say. The story’s been told, and it’s been done to death. Why anybody would relaunch it is a mystery to me. But I know our Hollywood world is built on relaunches right now,” she said.

Linda Hamilton will next return to the science fiction genre in theupcoming fifth and final season ofStranger Things, which is due to debut on Netflix later this year.
