This new installment in the Yakuza series features the eccentric and charismaticGoro Majimaas its protagonist.Considering it’s a spin-off, many might assume it would be shorter than a main entry in the series. However, the developers,Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, have clarified the game’s length.

In an interview withAutomaton Media,Masayoshi Yokoyama, the director of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, stated thatPirate Yakuza in Hawaiiwill be approximately 30% longer thanLike a Dragon Gaiden, the previous spin-off in the series released in November 2023.

According to Yokoyama, the development team didn’t aim to make a bigger game thanLike a Dragon Gaiden.Instead, the increased size was a natural consequence of the story and its requirements. “It’s more like the volume ‘ended up’ growing due to the story,” he explained.

“The map is enormous, there are many places to explore, and there are still features we haven’t announced yet. The volume increased on its own,” added Yokoyama, also stating that the game’s length will reflect its price which is more expensive than the launch price ofLike a Dragon Gaiden.

Completing the main story ofLike a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Nametakes about12 hours, and doing some side content extends that to21 hours. Therefore,Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaiiis estimated to last between15 to 27 hours.

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaiiwill once again be an action game, starringGoro Majima, who finds himself shipwrecked and suffering from amnesia on an unknown island. With the help ofNoah, a boy who saves him, Majima embarks on a quest to recover his memories and locate a legendary treasure. Along the way, he faces modern pirates and ruthless criminals in intense hand-to-hand combat and naval battles aboard a ship.
