Remember that old Capcom franchiseDino Crisisthat first released in 1999? Well, die-hardDino Crisisfans have been wanting a revival or a remake for years, especially sinceResident Evilremakes have been popular. Capcom hasn’t announced anything yet aboutDino Crisis, but it did recently releaseExoprimal. This sci-fi action dinosaur shooter is makingDino Crisisfans question if it’s related toExoprimalat all, which we have an answer to below.
IsExoprimalin theDino Crisisuniverse?
Sadly, the answer to ifExoprimalis related toDino Crisisis a no. Capcom Director Takuro Hiraoka revealed a year ago toIGNthatExoprimalhas nothing to do withDino Crisis. That may be disapointing to hear if you’re a fan of the old survival horror game.
Why is this such a shock? Well, the producer ofDino Crisis, Hiroyuki Kobayashi, was apparently pretty involved withExoprimal’sdevelopment. It also confused players when they noticed a certain character similarity. One woman in the trailers shared some resemblance to Regina, one of the main characters fromDino Crisis. Now that the game is available, it won’t take long to realize the red-haired woman Majesty inExoprimalisn’t the same at all.

Unfortunately, these uncanny resemblances and similarities to theDino Crisisfranchise have left some fans disappointed. But look on the bright side, with the huge success of Capcom remakes, it may decide to reviveDino Crisis!Exoprimalhas its own original story, characters, and universe. Although both these IPs have dinosaurs, they’re not related.
Also, seeing asExoprimalis doing somecollaborations withMonster HunterandStreet Fighter 6, who’s to say it won’t try aDino Crisisone? That may just make fans even more upset at Capcom neglecting the franchise. Despite this, I have high hopes that it’s hiding aDino Crisisremake behind closed doors.
Exoprimalis available onGame PassandSteam.
