Dead Rising has been rebuilt from the ground up in RE Engine withDead Rising Deluxe Remaster, and it’s another excellent remaster from CAPCOM that adds a new control scheme and quality-of-life features for modern audiences. The PC version has all the hallmarks of a standard RE Engine release, but it doesn’t let you toggle all the post-processing effects off. Here is how you can disable the distracting chromatic aberration effect in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster.

Disable Chromatic Aberration in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster

Even though Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster doesn’t have an in-game toggle to disable chromatic aberration, you can easily deactivate it fully by editing the configuration file.

Here is a comparison to show how cleaner it looks without the chromatic aberration effect.

Chromatic Aberration Enabled

The next time you launch the game, the effect will be completely disabled in-game. This can be easily seen in the main menu, where many elements use the effect to an excessive degree.

If you have a headache looking at the image on the left, we don’t blame you and apologize. We’re hopeful that CAPCOM will add a toggle in a future update. It doesn’t really add to the presentation in a meaningful way, and most games let you disable it.

Chromatic Aberration Disabled

Even CAPCOM’s last few releases, like Resident Evil4 Remake, allow you to disable the effect entirely. Thankfully, players can disable effects like Motion Blur, Lens Flare, Bloom, and Depth of Field.

Enable Chromatic Aberration

If, for whatever reason, you want to turn the effect back on, you can simply set the value of PCGraphicsLensDistortion from 0 back to 1.
