Working in the mines is no easy job, but someone has to do it. InAvowed, they play a very key part in Thirdborn’s defenses, as it helps produce a good number of miners to power their weaponry, something that the small but heavily geared city needs.
Unfortunately, a travesty has fallen upon it, and it’s up to the Envoy to set it right.

Avowed: Precious Light Quest Guide
Even smugglers seem to be in need of some insurance in Avowed, as when their boat goes under, so does their loot.
Accepting the Quest
Upon arriving in the Shatterscarp for the first time, you probably will be in awe of the vast desert landscape. Alongside it though, is an Aedyran Soldier who has a little bit of trouble that she wants you to help with. This nameless soldier informs you that the sulfur mines in the area are in need of some aid as they have become infested with giant spiders.
Hopefully, you don’t have arachnophobia, because these spiders are bigger than you are. The mines in the west are just north of your position, so head over there, and you’ll run into a miner and grain merchant arguing over the state of the mine.

Inside the Mines
When you get inside the mines, it will be, as you expected, infested with spiders. There are generally smaller spiders, but when we say smaller, we still mean the size of a medium-sized dog. Thankfully, they do down fairly easily; it’s the bigger ones in the following rooms you’ll have to watch out for, as they’re not only spongy but deal a considerable amount of damage. More so, it’s them overwhelming in numbers that might spell your doom.
Regardless, upon entering the next room, you will see the first target:a nest. There are two in this mine that you have to dispose of, each one spitting out bigger and bigger Dreamthrall spiders for you to deal with. The first one is fairly easy as, while it has a good number of spiders to face off against, you at least have plenty of environmental hazards you’re able to use to your advantage. After taking care of the spiders, get Kai to use his fire ability, or use your own on the nest to dispose of it.

Continue forth killing any spiders that get in your way. You’ll eventually come across a downed mine track. If you fail the jump, you may climb back up, but you will have to deal with a bunch of smaller spiders before that.
You will eventually come across the final nest, but it comes with a twist. There’s a Dreamthrall Sorcerer you also have to deal with. Destroy the final nest and return to the entrance of the mine (not before looting the sarcophagus nearby), only to find Darle huling around explosives. The entrance guard has his own plans for the mines: to destroy them and cripple Thirdborn.

The outcome will differ depending on what’s chosen. If you side with Darle, the cave will be destroyed and Thirdborn will be left somewhat defenseless as their gunpowder supply will be reduced immensely. If you decide to finish the quest and side with Thirdborn, you will need to fight Darle and the mines will reopen and Thirdborn will be able to defend themselves from the Steel Garrote.
