InKingdom Come: Deliverance 2’smain quest, “For Whom the Bell Tolls,” you tried to save Hans, and luckily Otto von Bergow arrived just in time to actually stop his execution, since your words meant nothing to the people in Trosky Castle. Now that you’re both free from prison and the threat of death, it’s time to get back in the saddle.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 - 8 Tips and Tricks We Wish We Knew Sooner
These Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 tricks will help you fight smarter, earn money faster, and avoid getting locked up for petty crimes.
Specifically, “Back in the Saddle” is a main quest that sends you and Hans to Nebakov Fortress to discuss alliances and politics, but that’s Hans’ job. While he’s busy, it’s up to you to look around the fortress and get a feel for its current situation. There aretwo tasks that you need to complete, and then multiple optional tasks that either give you more information or some type of reward.

Follow and Duel Michael
It doesn’t matter which order you do the main tasks in, but you’ll likely end up coming across this task first simply because of the quest’s design. While Hans is in his meeting, Michael is asked to show you around the fortress. Most of what you learn from Michael isn’t important, but you get some free food and drink. At the end of your tour, Michael suggests a duel. Accept it.
You don’t need to win the duel, but once it’s done, Michael tells you to meet with Klara for some healing and tells you about other people you can meet at the fortress. When you have the chance, ask him about the fortress' horses andpress the topic until he tells you that Jaromier inherited them.

Groom Peltzel and the Horse Race
The second task you need to complete is to speak with Groom Peltzel and accept his horse race challenge. He will refuse to answer questions about the horses until after the race, so get it over with. Again, it doesn’t matter if you win or lose. After the race, speak with Peltzel again and press him about the horses untilhe tells you that the fortress got them from defeating nearby bandits. These are the two pieces of information you need to get before Hans' meeting ends.
Optional Tasks for “Back in the Saddle”
While you’re waiting, you can complete a number of other tasks. The most useful one issneaking into theNebakov Fortress prisonto find Nebak is locked up there. To do this, you need to convince the guard by the door that Jaromier called for him, or you need to sneak behind him to knock him out, take his keys, and enter the prison.
Other tasks include speaking to Klara. She’ll ask you to go with her to collect herbs, which leads to the chance to romance her if you pick the right answer to her riddle. Otherwise, you can speak with the blacksmith, who’s suspiciously reluctant to accept help with fortifications. Then, you have the chance to face Mark, a guard, in anarchery contest to get a free bowif you win, but you also have the chance to notice the stockpile of equipment that shouldn’t be there. Finally, trying to go to where fortifications are being made leads to the guards stopping you, saying that you aren’t allowed in that area.

All together, this gives you extra information about the situation at the fortress for when you report to von Bergow after returning to Trosky. What you decide to tell him affects the next few main quests, so choose wisely.
Report to Otto von Bergow
Tell von Bergow that the situation at Nebokov Fortress is suspicious, which you know just from Michael and Groom Peltzel giving you different stories about the horses. If you find Nebak in the prison, you’re able to tell him that bandits have taken over the fortress. However, themost important decision is if you mention that Semine left his wedding early. Sharing this piece of unusual behavior can result in a lot of unnecessary deaths during the next quest, “Necessary Evil.” After your report, you finish “Back in the Saddle” in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
