One aspect ofAvowedis just how open the adventure is to players. Some encounters may vary more drastically than others; it’s all a matter of what you say and what you do. Dialogue choices are a key component to games such as this, as alienating the wrong person can lead to some drastic decision on an NPC’s part, while others may be frustrated with how you carry yourself in the world.
Avowed Finds Obsidian Playing to Their Strengths with Positive Results
While a lot of Obsidian’s craft remains familiar, small bursts of discovery and choice alike maintain Avowed’s mystery and intrigue as one to watch.
The Animancy Method
During the main story, you will come across a quest called The Animancy Method given to you by the head researcher at the tower in Fior mes Iverno. His device isn’t working correctly, but one thing might jump start it: the heart of Adragan. This is a heart said to be deep in the forest where the Delemgan reside. These are essentially ents, but more human-like in their features and size. Little mushroom-like creatures also roam the land, popping out of the ground when necessary, and there are some angry bears, as well.
All of these creatures stand in the way of obtaining the Adragan Heart, but be warned, if you engage with them, it might cause more problems down the road.

Avoiding Combat
Upon teleporting to theDelemgan Glade Beacon, you will need to cross a broken-down bridge to get to the Queen’s domain. This is where the trouble will start. Anything before this area is free game, but as soon as you cross this invisible barrier, you run the risk of annoying the queen.
This is because, if you kill any of her subjects, be it the Delemgan or the Nudgecaps that roam around the area, the queen will not look upon you favorably. This means that you will need to sneak by every enemy in order to get to the queen’s structure in order to talk to her, but this isn’t an easy task.

The easiest way to do this is once you’re across the bridge, head up to the left, but be warned, there are a couple of Delemgan and Nudgecaps in the destroyed building. If you’re able to avoid their gaze, there is a large broken structure you may climb up, and on the other side is a small purple treasure chest to open, and a good view of the queen’s residence.
Climb down and quickly head to the left, avoiding the Delemgan and Nudgecap below. Then jump down and head inside where the queen will greet you. If you’re having trouble in this area, the next best thing would be avoiding the broken-down house and continuing north. There is a dense patrol, but what you need to do is sprint right past them. They may see you but all you have to do is out run them. Head to the right through a small destroyed structure where you will be met with more enemies and a bear. Continue down the path, not stopping for them, and hide out in a crevasse away from the enemy’s gazes as they search for you. You should be directly next to the queen’s residence at this point.

Once the search concludes, head on inside to meet the queen. If you successfully avoid fighting these creatures, the queen will meet you with neutrality. She harbors no ill-will against you and doesn’t care about the Adragan Heart, thus giving it to you without resistance. Once this occurs, all the wildlife in the area will become friendly to the Envoy, not attacking them upon seeing them.
Choosing Bloodshed
If you still don’t want to engage the Queen in a fight but haved killed some of her kin on the way there, be it intentionally or unintentionally, there is still a way to get out of the situation. You will need to raise yourResolve to 9, be it respecing and/or taking food that will increase it. When the Queen brings up that you have killed many of her kin, you can talk her down, saying that “There was no time for words. I need the adragan’s heart to fight the Dreamscourge.”
This will make the Delemgan Queen realize that the wilds are a dangerous place for the Envoy and understands their situation. It’s a less encouraging way of going about this, but one that can lead to success nonetheless.
