After DOOM 3, id Software returned to the drawing board and came up with an incredible direction for the iconic first-person series that started it all. DOOM 2016 is a fast-paced, gory, and endlessly entertaining shooter that capitalizes on the strengths of the series while adding several new features to entertain new players.

Since its release, id Software has released DOOM: Eternal, which in my opinion is even better, and DOOM: The Dark Ages isn’t far away either. It all starts with DOOM 2016 though, and it’s an incredible game that’s hard to pass at this price.

Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun

Mimimi Games sadly shut down last year, but their excellent work lives on. Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun is a top-down stealth game set in Japan’s Edo period that put the studio on the map thanks to its immersive gameplay, clever writing, and gorgeous art style.

If you’re tired of stealth games that don’t respect you enough to make your own decisions, give Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun a go, and feel rewarded for coming up with plans, using characters effectively, and completing challenges the way you see fit.

This collection includes all 4 Seasons, 400 Days, and The Walking Dead: Michonne which amounts to roughly 50 hours of gameplay across 23 unique episodes. Ali Hashmi

Ali has been writing about video games for the past six years and is always on the lookout for the next indie game to obsess over and recommend to everyone in sight. When he isn’t spending an unhealthy amount of time in Slay the Spire, he’s probably trying out yet another retro-shooter or playing Dark Souls for the 50th time.
