After spending more than 12 years shooting his last film,BoyhooddirectorRichard Linklaterreturns next year with the new comedyEverybody Wants Some. The film is set for release on June 13, 2025. To get fans ready for this upcoming comedy,Paramount Pictureshas released the first trailer, along with a new poster.
Wefirst reportedon the project back in 2009, when the director mentioned that the story would be set during the 1980s, following four college freshmen adjusting to life on campus while trying to make the baseball team. The director has described the comedy as a “spiritual sequel” to his 1993 classicDazed and Confused. During an interview withCreative Screenwriting,Richard Linklaterrevealed howThat’s What I’m Talking Aboutis ‘a continuation ofBoyhood.’

“Well, I think the word “spiritual” gets me off the hook. I just shot it and wrapped it recently, and it has nothing to do withDazed and Confusedother than it would be set four years later, when one of the younger characters went off to college. It’s a party film. It’s really about the beginning of school, not the end of the school year. I guess personally or autobiographically it’s kind of in that realm, but it’s also a continuation ofBoyhood, believe it or not. I don’t know if one film can be a sequel to two different movies, but it begins right where Boyhood ends with a guy showing up at college and meeting his new roommates and a girl. It overlaps with the end ofBoyhood.”
The title was taken from a song onVan Halen’s 1980 album ‘Women and Children First.‘Everybody Wants Somefeatures an ensemble cast of Will Brittain,Zoey Deutch,Ryan Guzman,Tyler Hoechlin, Blake Jenner,Glen PowellandWyatt Russell.
