InElden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, players will be tasked with exploring the world to their heart’s content. There are so many unique and little tidbits to find in the world, with so much of the content hidden behind exploration. You can critical path the story, but that will only showcase a fraction of what the expansion has to offer.
To the South
If you have gone off the beaten path a bit, you may have found yourself in theCerulean Coast. If you have made your way all the way to the southernmost point of the map, you’ll notice there’s a giant hole you’re able to platform your way down. Unfortunately, at the bottom, there’s a sealed-off area with no means of getting past without dispelling it somehow.

There are a small handful of them that you’re able to get in a single playthrough, with 11 available in a run.
Fortunately, doing so is easy. First, you will need to complete theBelurat castlenear the beginning of the story. This means taking down theDivine Beast Dancing Lionand climbing to the top of the castle to find it’s locked behind shadowy vines that need to be burned. At this point, a note will inform you that Miquella is headed east and it’s best to follow in his footsteps.
Approaching Shadow Keep
Continue eastward, pastCastle Ensisand behind the giant furnace golem to reach the massiveShadow Keeplooming over all the land. Here, you will hear a loud noise as what looks like a rune has broken in the sky. It will inform you that “Somewhere, a great rune has broken…” and “And so too has a powerful charm.”
This is the indicator that the seal on The Fissure deep below has broken. Head back to the southernmost grace, and you will find a brand-new area to explore. This features some familiar enemies that were a lot more neutral in the past and a boss that reminds of the Orphan of Kos from Bloodborne, just a little less frantic.
