This isn’t the only change up or departure we have seen so far, with Senior Creative DirectorMatt Goldman leaving Biowarelast November.
Dragon Age 4 Middle of Production
The blog outlines that they are currently creating “amazing environments, deep characters, strong gameplay, impactful writing, emotional cinematics” and more. However, no time frame was given in terms of the Alpha and Beta.
As for when we will hear more about Dragon Age 4, it looks slated to be later this year, as the blog post states there will be “blogs and social content” coming from the team.
What We Know So Far About Dragon Age 4
Bioware has yet to reveal any gameplay, and most updates have been a slew of concept art, teasing the content. The recent blog post seems to indicate we’re still quite far off from seeing anything in-game.
Bioware shared last December that Dragon Age 4 will remain “single-player” focused. Emphasising that the franchise won’t be going in the direction of the previous report back in 2019, which came from chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen saying they would “double down on live services”. Instead with the difficulties that Anthem faced, and the overall success of single-player titles such asStar Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, the direction remains with a concentration on the single-player experience.
Bioware has shown concept art teasing theAntivan Crows, as well as theGrey Wardensand a magic archer. There has also been featured artwork for a mage standing in what appears to be Dragon Age’s biggest city Minrathous, the capital of Tevinter.
The last trailer was the teaser shown at The Game Awards 2022, which featured a familiar face,Solas. We get also got a taste of some of the environments.
Previous reports had many to believe that the next Dragon Age game wouldn’t be releasinguntil fiscal year 2022, but with everything that has happened since and the recent blog post it looks like we could be waiting much longer. We will have to wait and see what will be revealed in future updates later this year. Dragon Age 4 will be released on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X / S, no release date has been announced as of yet.
