Fans of Disney’sHerculesare bracing themselves to see the Greek hero turned into one of the latest entrants into the House of Mouse’s never-ending parade of live-action remakes that willthis year deliverSnow WhiteandLilo & Stitchto a (possibly) waiting audience. For those who cannot wait for the Herculean character to be realized on the big screen in some resemblance to real life,Multiverse of Movieson YouTube has you covered with a slightly creepy but technically pleasing AI-generated fan trailer which answers the question, what ifTom Hollandplayed Hercules? Is anyone asking that question?

Herculesis currently marching through developmentwith the Russo Brothers’ production company AGBO andAladdindirector Guy Ritchie behind the scenes. While the film is in early development, there have been whispers of Taron Egerton being eyed to take on the titular role, with fans wantingWicked’ssensational Ariana Grande in the role of Meg. However, none of this is yet confirmed, so someone has been having a play around in the sandbox and come up with a fan-casted dream (or nightmare depending on your viewpoint) that sees Holland joined by Russell Crowe as Zeus (hardly a stretch after hisThor: Love & Thunderappearance), Jim Carrey as Hades, along with Angelina Jolie, Beyoncé, Zendaya, and, in a pleasing moment, Danny DeVito as the lovable satyr Phil, whom he voiced in the original 1997 animated movie.

One Last Hope from Hercules

Fan trailers are often seen as cheap and nasty, especially given the continued debate over the use of technology in the movie industry, but there are times when it has its uses. For example, thisHerculestrailer makes is categorically clear that Tom Holland was not put on this Earth to ever play Hercules – although, ironically, he will get his chance at playing in Greek history aspart of the ensemble cast of Christopher Nolan’sThe Odyssey.

Does ‘Hercules’ Need a Live-Action Remake?

That is a question that really fits the “insert title here” template. The 1997 animatedHercules, directed by Ron Clements and John Musker, took a lighthearted, pop-gospel approach to the Greek myth, featuring a colorful cast of characters and a showstopping soundtrack that made history fun again. Voice actors Tate Donovan (Hercules), James Woods (Hades), Susan Egan (Meg), and DeVito (Phil) helped make the movie a hit, and delivered some now-classic Disney staples such as “Go the Distance.”

According to early details, music will play a big part in the live-action remake, but whether that is in a good way is yet to be seen. When the movie was announced, it was said to be “inspired by TikTok,” a sentence that will make many older fans of the original get on their knees and pray for it to stop. But, it won’t stop, andHerculeswill be born again on the big screen with an all-star, all-singing and dancing new version in the coming years.

Joe Russo Says Disney’s Hercules Remake Will Be Experimental and Draw Influence From TikTok

Disney has played it safe for many live-action remakes, but it looks like Hercules is about to buck the trend by taking inspiration from TikTok.

Fans of Tom Holland don’t need to be too sad though, as along with his venture into Chris Nolan’s inner circle, Holland will also be reprising his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in several upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe offerings, including his own fourth solo outing and Avengers: Secret Wars. Who needs to see him disappoint as a weedy Hercules when he has all that going for him?
