Developer of upcoming sci-fi RPG Cyberpunk 2077 has revealed that multiplayer will be available after launch.
CD Projekt Red Confirms Multiplayer for Cyberpunk 2077
CD Projekt Redup until today hasnot concretely confirmed plans for multiplayerbut have said it was at the R&D stage. However, in a post on theirTwitteraccount today, they announced the confirmation for multiplayer. They also have shared that DLCs will also be released following the release of the title in April, that will include free single player content. Once they have finished developing that content, they will launch multiplayer.
2/2 The plan for now is to deliver Cyberpunk 2077 in April, then follow up with DLCs (free!) and single player content, and — once we’re done — invite you for some multiplayer action.

The tweet also shared they are starting to recruit people for multiplayer development. Previously, senior concept artist Marthe Jonkers shared thatmultiplayer would be implementedonly if “everything fits together”. From this announcement, it looks like that this function fits into their vision of the game.

But players will need to wait for future updates, as multiplayer will be available after the release. This sounds similar to what Rockstar did withRed Dead Redemptionwhich launched as a single-player title, but later introducedRed Dead Online.
CD Projekt Red also shared recently that the game is infirst-personand that most cutscenes will be in this perspective, but a few will allow players to see their character.
Cyberpunk 2077will release on PC, PS4 and Xbox One on April 16th 2020.
