It has been at least a couple of weeks since we last heard any kind of update onDwayne Johnson’sBlack Adammovie, and that means it’s time for a post-production update from producer Hiram Garcia. With Johnson having kept fans well in the loop during the filming of his DC debut, Garcia has picked up the mantel since the film wrapped with regular news on where they currently are, and with a sequel already having been hinted at, there is certainly alot riding on Johnson’s “disruptive” hero doing the businesswhen he arrives in cinemas this summer.

Currently, the movie is deep in post-production and already has an initial cut complete, which has thrown up a few things that Garcia and director Collet-Serra are now working on refining based on what they have learned while putting that first director’s cut together. In a new interview withCollider, Garcia explained at length the process that they are currently going through. He said:

Black Adam

“Oh, we just saw the director’s cut recently, and we were really excited. Like you know, a lot of times when you see that early cut, it sets a table where you realize, ‘Okay, now we understand how much work we got to do.’ Granted, the movie’s in a stage where there are no effects done. It’s so fresh after filming. But anytime the movie is that entertaining and good in that raw of a form, it makes us very confident. So really excited with where the movie is.”

Garcia goes on to praise Collet-Serra and The Rock.

“Jaume has done such a good job. The movie is big. It’s fun. DJ was born to playBlack Adam. I got to tell you, if there was ever anyone who is just perfect for this role, it’s him. Then seeing him with the rest of the JSA and all those characters and Pierce and Aldis and Quintessa and Noah, it’s a pinch-me moment. It was one of the most fun movies we’ve ever made and also just the coolest to be making something on this scale and with a character who’s going to have this much of an effect on the DC Universe. It’s really been awesome, and I think you’re really going to dig it.”

Black Adamhas been a long time in the making for Johnson, who has professed for many months now that this is the superhero movie that is going to “disrupt the hierarchy of the DECU” and from what has been seen so far in clips and previews from DC FanDome, Johnson’s own Instagram account, and other events, it is certainly setting up to be one of the big movies of 2022. If anyone was in any doubt of that, Johnson’s performance in the movie was recently voted asone of the most anticipated new performances of the yearalongside that of fellow DC newcomer Robert Pattinson who will be making his debut inThe Batmanin March.

Black Adamis all set to arrive in cinemas on July 29th, 2022, when we find out just how much of an impact the movie has on the superhero genre.
