With multiple characters returning from previous films, an insider theory suggests the perfect Marvel way to replace Jonathan Majors.
Majors was fired by Disney/Marvel after he was convicted of misdemeanor assault and harassment last year. According to this theory, the film will bring in multiple heroes and villains from other universes and pit them against the Earth-616 heroes. The theory suggests that instead of one all-powerful villain, the films will introduce the variants of Earth-616 heroes and villains as the antagonists inAvengers: Doomsday. Perez shared inThe Cosmic Circus:
The whole idea for these next two films is seeing a Multiversal War play out on the magnitude that was teased back in Loki season 1. The thing is, this time, the key players in this war won’t be Kang or his variants but rather other Marvel heroes & villains from across the multiverse landscape.
Moreover, Perez doesn’t believe that Kevin Feige and the Russo brothers will just bring back characters as a fan service. He shared that Marvel will use these characters just likeSpider-Man: No Way HomeandDeadpool & Wolverineused the returning characters. They would serve an actual purpose and would contribute to the storyline significantly.
That doesn’t mean they would steal away screen time from the new characters of MCU Phase 4,5, & 6. According to Perez, Shang-Chi, Kate Bishop, America Chavez, Yelena Belova, Kamala Khan, Monica Rambeau, Riri Williams, The Watcher, and the TVA will all play a crucial role inAvengers 5 & 6.
