Five weeks after its release onPS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, The game has not only captivated millions of players but is now beginning to outline its future.

The first teaser came a week ago, with the announcement of a special broadcast revealing the ambitious plans ahead for Naoe and Yasuke in feudal Japan.

Now, Ubisoft has confirmed a plan for free updates to be released regularly, aiming to expand the gameplay experience and respond to community feedback.

The Ubisoft Quebec teamhas outlined the game’s post-launch plans for its first year, which include regular — and free — updates. The first one will arrive next week, on May 6.

In addition to user-requested improvements, these updates will bring narrative content, collaborations, rewards, and more.

These periodic updates will include new “Story Highlights” missions, focused on expanding the narrative universe and giving more background to secondary characters.

New Narrative Missions: Story Highlights

The first of these missions will come with the early May update and is titled“The Works of Luís Fróis,”centered around the famous Portuguese Jesuit who lived in Japan during the Sengoku period.

The June update will bring the secondStory Highlight,a new ally for the league, more immersion options, and various adjustments.

Ubisoft is also working on improvements to areas like parkour, with new animations and movements to make climbing and exploration more fluid.

On the other hand, Photo Mode will receive new filters, stickers, facial expressions, poses, and even ambient music. Like the gameplay changes, these additions will arrive in June.

Quality of Life Enhancements

The first major post-launch patch, already available, introduced several quality-of-life improvements based on community feedback — such as auto horse tracking and the ability to select multiple items in shops and forges.

By June, expected updates include the ability to hide headgear during cutscenes or disable individual visual effects. Alarm system changes are also coming, expanding it to the open world.

A full New Game+ mode is in development, which will allow players to replay the story with a new level of challenge and an increased level cap.

A new extreme difficulty setting — for both combat and stealth — is also in the works, designed for players seeking a much more demanding experience.

Upcoming Expansion: The Claws of Awaji

Additionally, the studio has promised special collaborations, content for the Animus Hub, and other surprises yet to be revealed.

Last but not least, the expansionThe Claws of Awajiwill continue the story after the epilogue and let players explore an island full of secrets.
