If you’re into role-playing games, the Fallout series is undoubtedly one of the first video games in the genre that you think of. The stellar Fallout 1 andFallout 2, together with (probably even better) Fallout New Vegas, are the pinnacle of RPG gaming. Their fascinating, post-apocalyptic world is incredibly detailed and interesting, mixing the harsh realities of post-nuclear USA with the wit and humor of top-notch writing.

If you cannot wait for the release of the new Fallout series, do not be afraid. It’s set to debut quite soon. It’ll grace your TV screen sooner than the next game in the series, that’s for sure.

Together with the teaser trailer, Amazon announced the new TV series will debut on 03 July 2025, so a bit less than half a year from now. It’ll be just in time for spring, so you’re able to already plan your post-winter activities around the upcoming series!

Are there any Fallout series trailers?

Yes, and you’re able to finally see the Fallout series trailer now, as it’s live on YouTube.

It has to be said, the trailer itself looks great and does seem to capture the uncanny, gritty nature of the Fallout world.

Lucy Fallout Amazon series

As it’s just a teaser trailer, we do not get much in terms of plot details or character development, but we can safely say that fans of the games - especially the ones made by Bethesda - are sure to see quite a lot of things that they know and love from Fallout 3 and Fallout 4. You can see the Brotherhood of Steel’s blimp The Prydwen, there is you trusty pal resembling Dogmeat (called CX404 for a change), and of course, a scene when the bombs fall and your character emerges from the Vault to start their journey in the Wasteland - all the good stuff.

The show itself is not a direct adaptation of the previous Fallout games but is a completely new idea set in the same universe. The female protagonist, 219 years after the bombs fell, emerges from Vault 33, which is located in pre-apocalypse Los Angeles. In the trailer, we can see that she’ll have to overcome challenges both inside the vault, as well as outside, learning to survive in the harsh reality of the post-war USA. We do not yet know what the overarching plot of the series will be, but the creators of the show mentioned in an interview that the show’s themes will revolve around social inequality and the disconnect between the vault dwellers and the people who are descendants of those left to die outside the vaults.

The upcoming Fallout project is setting up to be quite a spectacle, with multiple industry veterans behind it. The creators of the series are Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan, whom you should know from the brilliant - and equally apocalyptic - Westworld. What’s more, Todd Howard of Bethesda Game Studios and James Altman of Bethesda Softworks are also involved as executive producers, serving as a link between the world of Fallout as shown on TV, and the one you know from video games. What’s more, Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner will serve as showrunners.

We do not know whether Amazon will be licensing the show out to other streaming services or platforms, but seeing as Prime Video is already included in the price of Amazon Prime and loads of people have it, you should have no problem watching the show when it releases on 01 August 2025.
